Yachting is a pretty unique industry. We live and work all over the world, often spending months away from home, and our crew community is made up of people from so many different countries and backgrounds.
YS Crew Collective is something we wanted to create within that community: a simple way for crew to give back and support a cause that is doing meaningful work in South Africa.
We’ve chosen to support Alladin Learning Solutions, a South African nonprofit focused on early childhood development and foundation phase education in disadvantaged communities.
You don’t need to be South African or a yachtie to be part of it. Whether you have a personal connection to South Africa, have spent time there, or simply want to support a great organisation doing important work, we’d love for you to get involved.
You can make a once-off donation or set up a small monthly contribution. There’s no minimum and no pressure. The idea is simply that if enough of us contribute a little, together we can make a meaningful difference.
About Alladin Learning Solutions
Alladin Learning Solutions (ALS) is a registered nonprofit company (2017/035/380) and public benefit organisation (930070596) committed to strengthening early childhood development and foundation phase education in disadvantaged communities across South Africa.
With extensive experience working alongside ECD practitioners, teachers, parents, schools and community organisations, ALS designs and implements practical, evidence-based programmes that address the real challenges faced by under-resourced educational environments, including shortages of trained personnel, learning materials and basic infrastructure.
Their programmes are tailored to each community’s needs, with a focus on building sustainable skills, improving learning environments and creating opportunities for children to reach their full potential.
Donations directly support initiatives that make a tangible difference in the schools and ECD centres within the ALS network, from providing educational resources to creating more stimulating learning environments through projects such as jungle gyms, classroom painting and minor infrastructure improvements.
We’re particularly passionate about supporting ALS because of the genuine commitment of its founder, Kim, and the work she is doing to create stronger foundations for children and communities across South Africa.
